Toll Free Lines Clear and Open for
Federal Camping Reservation Program

Need camping reservations for next summer? Reservation agents for the National Recreation Reservation Service (NRRS) are "standing by," ready to take your call. The number: 1-877-444-6777 (1-877-444-NRRS).

On October 15, the NRRS initiated reservations via toll-free phone for America's National Forest lands and Army Corps of Engineers lakes. Reservation agents rapidly whittled down the huge initial volume, so callers now should experience no busy signals or long waits.

But the line soon will begin to build again. Because NRRS sites can be reserved 240 days in advance of arrival, next summer is already here. Campers are rapidly booking Memorial Day weekend 1999, and 4th of July weekend availability will open up over the next two weeks.

"Early Birds" can even capture popular weekends ahead of the 240 day window if their stay extends from the arrival date through the holiday. Callers who wait too long may find their favorite campsite taken, and very little left.

Customers can access necessary information on the Internet at ReserveUSA.com. A long list of available campgrounds is posted there, along with an advance reservation planning calendar.

The NRRS program scope truly is national. So far, customers can reserve sites in 34 states, including such exotic locations as Forest Service Wilderness Cabins in Alaska or campsites nestled under the ragged skyline of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Idaho. Corps of Engineer lakeside recreation opportunities range from the woodsy shores of the Missouri River to the stilled waters of Savanna River reservoirs between Georgia and South Carolina. And the number of reservable sites will grow.

Park.Net, Inc. of Ballston Spa, NY, is the contracted service provider for the NRRS. The company also handles reservations for New York state campgrounds and cabins, and a California division provides reservation services for the California State Park System.
