A typical winter scene? NOT!
This late spring snowfall vanished within hours.
Another quick setup required for my 4x5. The main challenge was finding a distinctive view from this well used vantage point, something that didn't look like every postcard you've seen of Lower Yellowstone Falls.
Instead of fearing the loss of sunlight, I was anxious about it returning. The gray sky and the snow coated scenery would be banished by the sun.
The lens helps to define a unique view--a 305mm, the equivalent of a portrait telephoto on a 35mm.
In the chill air of this little snow squall, steam rose from the river banks. Everything in Yellowstone is cooking, even the river.
